The Servitor Skavan – A Helping Hand
I have just used this servitor in an attempt to free a log jam in a large project I am currently involved with and I thought I should pass it on.
Skavan has been in general use for quite a few years. His function is to break down barriers and help to solve problems creatively and quickly.
His name allegedly derives from one of the names of the elephant god Ganesh ie. Vighnanasaka which with was re-assembled to Skavan-Naghai and then shortened to Kavan. Ganesh is, of course, the destroyer of obstacles so tying in the name is a neat trick.
But in appearance Skavan is anything but elephantine for he has the form of a rat in overalls with plans in the pocket, a yellow hardhat on his head. He totes a sledgehammer and smokes a cigar.
You will notice the classic Air sign is incorporated in the sigil. This is because he was conceived as an air elemental. He is a troubleshooter designed so anyone can use him. His demeanour is pleasant but sometimes a bit gruff. He is keen to tackle anything and, reportedly, sometimes too keen!
Magicians work with him in a variety of ways but I went for putting energy into his sigil whilst calling out to him. When I felt he was with me I asked him for his help. To aid the process I will leave offerings on the sigil that I have folded up and placed on an out of the way shelf. I will try to get him a cigar…
