The Ellis Phenomenon – User Beware!
The Linking Sigil is used extensively today as a way of tapping into a source of energy for magical workings etc. In its raw, unregulated form, Ellis is considered by many to be potentially hazardous as she continues to perpetuate the goals of the creators. However, no magician worth their salt would work with any kind of magical energy without being aware what comes with it. We tap into these beings/forces for the very mix of flavours (I know itβs a terrible metaphor!) that they offer and if we are sensible make allowances for all aspects of this mix and any potential cost to us and those the working touches!
It can work like a spell header β a prime component around which other sigils are clustered. So that some chaotes take the precaution of using a supplementary filtering sigil to render the incoming energies harmonious with the intent of the operation. This is much better than allowing an element of destructive randomness associated with Ellis to be inserted into workings which might otherwise have peaceful or beneficial intentions.
It is also considered that with the sigil having been spread so widely Ellis as a network is far too valuable a resource not to be used. In this respect this is an energy source like any other β it can make you nice and warm β but if not controlled properly can burn you to a cinder!
Time will tell!

I prefer Ellis the entity to the raw energy of the total network. I’ve been working with Ellis herself, the interface between users and the network itself, for over 2 years now and each time I visit her she seems to grow towards being more than just a small time egregore.

Thanks, Little Bird. I find it is so useful to compare notes on these things and get a feel for how other people work.
I have just discovered the servitor Skaven which apparently also came out of a group project. It was created to “help with creatively overcoming obstacles” and takes the form of a rat in overalls, yellow hardhat, wielding a sledgehammer and smoking a cigar.
Useful guy to have around!
